Project Description:
This five-year MINERVA project will utilize mixed methods built around extensive comparative field research paired with iterative desk research to address three core research topics. First, we will measure societal cohesion and build predictive models designed to allow for the development of accurate subnational cohesion projections using broadly available data. Second, we will examine the linkages between societal cohesion and the formation of both pro-social and armed opposition groups. Finally, we will examine how societal cohesion shapes the uptake and dissemination of adversary influence operations throughout Africa.
