New Minerva-funded research explores the ethical and regulatory challenges of enhancing warfighters' biological, physiological, and cognitive capacities. The study proposes three key justifications for this research within the U.S. Common Rule and IRB framework: individual and group risk reduction, protection of third parties such as civilians, and military effectiveness. This work advances understanding of the ethical implications of military enhancements, offering a framework to guide future research and policy in defense science.
